Appeal hits the road

Pack The Bus will hit the streets next week, beginning in South Wairarapa on Monday.

The Christmas gift appeal kicks off in Featherston and Martinborough before heading to Greytown and Carterton on Tuesday, and Masterton on Thursday through Sunday.

The annual drive will collect presents for local foodbank and social agencies.

South Wairarapa District Council chief executive Harry Wilson said he knew the presents collected from the district made a big difference to many families and individuals over Christmas.

Organisers are encouraging residents to bring along unwrapped non-perishable and non-gendered items.

The gifts will be redistributed to people who could do with a helping hand this holiday season.

Items high in demand are building block sets [such as Lego], goggles and swimming aids, toiletries [especially for teens], beanies, hats, and festive, non-perishable food items.

Wairarapa businesses and the public are invited to drop their gifts at the Pack The Bus locations or at the Carterton Event Centre before Tuesday.
