October 24 – Letters from our readers: More than farts and burps

According to some, the Government is making unwelcome announcements about ‘farts and burps’ but the only farts and burps I’ve been aware of just lately is coming from a disgruntled group of inveterate whiners who just can’t cope with the thought of a democratically elected socialist in a skirt having a go at making a few serious inroads into altering the patterns of land abuse we’ve been tolerating for far too long.

There is not a shred of evidence whatsoever that there is a conspiracy to ‘cover the whole country in pine trees’ or deprive us or the world of the much-needed food supplies we might reasonably be capable of helping out with.

It’s just that we can not continue in the same old same old ways, that’s all. A bit less whining and a bit more respectful exchange of useful ideas could come in handy too.

Let’s be honest for a change, the Ardern government is in no way shape or form ‘hell bent on destroying the rural sector’ and the only ‘bats in the belfry’ are those with power, wealth and privilege in the forefront of their thinking alongside a profound and very disturbing hatred of anything that they can stick labels of socialism on to.

Let’s hope we take note of the chaotic results of unhinged Toryism in Britain before we make the same mistake as them here in Aotearoa.
