Who has performed at the highest level, which team has championships winning form, and who is that hardworking stalwart, who keeps a club ticking over? It is time to recognise the best in the region’s sports.
Nominations for the Wairarapa Times-Age Sports Awards are now open with the glittering awards ceremony set for June.
The Wairarapa Times-Age awards celebrate the achievements and dedication of Wairarapa’s sporting community.
They also recognise the contributions made by sports administrators and the hundreds of volunteers who give their time for free to make their chosen sport happen.
The awards cover sporting achievements in several categories from April 1 2021 to March 31 2022.
They include:
- Senior Sports Personality of the Year
- Youth Sports Personality of the Year
- Junior Sports Personality of the Year
- Disabled Sports Personality of the Year
- Administrator of the Year
- Volunteer of the Year
- Official of the Year
- Junior Official of the Year
- Coach of the Year
- Junior Team of the Year
- Youth Team of the Year
- Senior Team of the Year
- Club of the Year
- College of the Year
- Primary School of the Year
Nominations can be made by anyone, including the nominee, whether it be an individual, club, team, or school and nominations close on Friday, April 22.
The winners of all categories will automatically become finalists for the Supreme Champion award.
There will also be a Lifetime Achievement award and a People’s Choice award.

- Individuals, clubs, teams, schools can nominate themselves.
- The Administrator, Volunteer and Lifetime Achievement Awards are not restricted to a specific time frame
- Nominations close Friday 22 April at 4.30 pm
- The Awards night is being held on Wednesday, June 22 at the Carterton Events Centre.
