Giants president Chris Feary is confident the club’s flagship team can extend their unbeaten run in the Intercity premier three championship against Hutt Valley Dodgers White today at South Park.
Giants are the only unbeaten team in the Wellington-Hutt Valley championship with four wins from four games. The latest was a frustrating win by default over Dodgers Black last Saturday.
Although Feary has little knowledge of the visiting side, he said they will be no match for the Giants with the experienced duo of player-coach Justin ‘Chunky’ Karaitiana and Mike McDermott sharing the pitching duties.
“The premier threes are a good fielding team too, and they are just very strong all round and they’ll be very hard to beat and they’re full strength this weekend.”
Feary said the difficulty for Karaitiana is selecting a side from the big squad, with a lot of competition for places. The game starts at 3pm at South Park.
Giants will host Totara Park Gold in the Hutt Valley Major B Championship at 3pm, and the Under-15s play Dodgers Mini D’s at 10.30am. The President’s grade team play Demons at Fraser Park, Lower Hutt.
