Masterton boxer Brooke ‘The Unbreakable’ Miller is a three-time Golden Glove champion after her victory at the North Island Golden Gloves in Taupo.
Miller fought in the girls’ 40kg 13-14 age group and came up against Isobella Parks from Whanganui in the final of what is the highest-ranked tournament after the national championships.
In a closely-fought bout over three 90-second rounds, Miller held a slight edge throughout and won 3-2 in a split decision.
Miller, of the Masterton Young Citizens Boxing Club, now heads to the national championships in Whanganui in October, targeting a second national title to her trophy cabinet.
Austin ‘The Heartbreaker’ Butler also made his final in the junior boys’ 54kg class 15-16 age group over three two-minute rounds losing a split decision to Simba McKay from Palmerston North, who is trained by the NZ national coach Billy Meehan.
