Wairarapa’s first baby of 2021, Teddy Nicolas Allan, was born on Saturday at Wairarapa Hospital in Masterton.
Teddy was born at 2.43am weighing four kilograms.
Teddy had been due on of January 14 but was born two weeks early.
“I thought he was going to be born at Christmas, so we bought a Christmas outfit – he never got to wear it,” Mother Emma Allan said.
Teddy is the fourth child in the Allan family to Emma and Ben.
The Allan’s oldest daughter Ruby, seven, had been keeping a record of Teddy, writing that he had “long fingers and toes”.
Ruby had wanted a sister but said she was going to be a good big sister to Teddy anyway.
Ruby said Teddy was “so cute”, and that she was going to give him lots of kisses – she had also offered to be on night duty.
Five-year-old Bruce said he would be on “cleaning bum control”.
Allan went into labour at 9pm on New Year’s Day and was in hospital by 11pm.
Allan said that teddy was a “lockdown baby”, and her house was going to become a madhouse.
Ruby said that they were all thankful for Granny who lends a hand.
