Harcourts are top qualifiers for the semifinals in the Wairarapa premier one championship.

The reigning champions were pushed all the way by Celtic before they sealed a 46-44 victory in the final round of games at the Trust House Wairarapa Netball Centre on Saturday.

Celtic coach Dayle Clarkson said the game was tight all the way.

“We were neck-and-neck at the end of the third-quarter,” she said.

“Virtually everyone was scoring off their own centre pass, and it came down to the last couple of minutes.”

Harcourts and Celtic will line up again in the semifinals on Saturday.

Wairarapa College and Carterton Red will play in the other semifinal after resounding victories on Saturday.

Waicol ended Greytown Holmes Construction’s top four chances with a 50-35 win, and Carterton Red were too good for St Matthew’s, winning 53-28.

Carterton Legends scored their second win of the championship, beating Gladstone Heat 48-25.

Greytown will play Gladstone, and Legends will take on St Matthew’s in the bottom four semifinals.

STANDINGS:

Harcourts 28 points; Wairarapa College 24; Carterton Red 20; Celtic 15; Greytown Holmes Construction 12; Carterton Legends 8; St Matthew’s 4; Gladstone Heat 0.
