For the second time in a fortnight, a Kuripuni outlet has sold a winning Lotto First Division ticket.

And the similarities are uncanny.

Saturday night’s winning ticket sold at Kuripuni Lotto and Post Shop collected $166,167 – a sixth share of the $1 million

A fortnight earlier a ticket sold at Pak’nSave earned exactly the same amount.

Kuripuni Lotto and Post Shop owner Maureen Taute said it was probably the person who bought the winning ticket is local.

“So far all the winners have been local people so it is great the money goes back into the community rather than a tourist travelling through,” Taute said.

She said she really doesn’t know why the shop is so lucky.

“We have sold a mountain of winning tickets – about $52 million since I took over the shop in 2003, she said.

“It’s just so nice for them, whoever it is. We hope it is someone who needs it. I am looking forward to seeing them next week.”

Last year the store sold a $12.5m Powerball Lotto ticket, and in 2009, a $36m prize went to four Masterton women who bought a Big Wednesday ticket.

Powerball was not struck on Saturday and has rolled over to Wednesday night, where the jackpot will be $28 million.
