A new foodie hub is coming to Masterton, and it will boast two international franchises under one roof.
Fast food lovers can look forward to having the option of Pita Pit or Domino’s on Chapel St next year.
Pita Pit will be serving up pitas, salads and smoothies, while Domino’s will dish out pizzas, sides, drinks and desserts.
Malcolm Goldsworthy co-owns the new Pita Pit alongside his wife Lisa, who is the school secretary at Wairarapa College.
Mr Goldsworthy has 15-20 years of experience in franchising, previously working with Fastway couriers.
He sold in September 2011 and “has been looking for something ever since”.
A friend recommended Pita Pit to Mr Goldsworthy.
“It wasn’t until I started researching that things started to align,” he said.
“I took my young son over and we tried it, we both enjoyed it.
“I did the research and found [the franchise] was growing.”
The location on Chapel St in the heart of a fast food saturated area stood out to Mr Goldsworthy.
“It is probably one of the best sites in town,” he said.
“It’s on one of the main streets in town.
“It’s in a foodie area, with McDonald’s, Burger King and Subway in the vicinity.
“Parking won’t be an issue [for customers].”
He believes there is a real hunger for the product in Masterton.
“The feedback we have had has been absolutely amazing.
“People have said they can’t wait.”
Mr Goldsworthy said the store will provide more job opportunities in Masterton.
He is hoping to open the store on March 1 next year.
A food court like they have in the plaza in palmerston north is a great idea
