Two teenagers were taken to hospital after their ute crashed into a Carterton paddock and rolled at least three times on Friday morning.

The duo, both 19, suffered injuries after their white Mistsubishi crashed off Norfolk Rd, just before 8.30am, about 4km from State Highway 2.

Farm workers in the opposite paddock contacted emergency services.

Four police officers, three ambulances, and fire engines from Masterton and Carterton were dispatched.

Carterton Sergeant Chris Megaw said the driver appeared to have lost control, skidding to the left side of the road, and then to the right, before going through a fence.

Impact marks in the ground indicated the vehicle may have rolled three or four times before coming to a rest about eight metres into the paddock.

A female passenger was out of the vehicle when emergency services arrived, and the male driver followed shortly after.

The driver suffered neck injuries and the passenger suffered cuts and bruises.

The passenger was discharged from Wairarapa Hospital, but the driver was admitted, and was in a stable condition.

  1. Bad enough having frequent accidents at the intersectionwith S H 2 but the whole of Norfolk Road needs all those tricky bends straightened out !
