Black Caps One Day International run scoring record tumbles
Black Caps star Ross Taylor overtook Stephen Fleming’s New Zealand record for most One Day International runs in the match against Bangladesh in Dunedin on Wednesday.
The Wairarapa College old boy top scored with 69 as New Zealand amassed 330 for six wickets in their 50 overs which ultimately proved too good for Bangladesh and clinched a 3-0 series victory.
Taylor moved through to 8026 runs, surpassing Fleming’s previous record of 8007 runs.
The 34-year-old achieved the milestone in his 218th ODI at a far superior average to his first New Zealand captain who took 279 matches to amass his runs.
Taylor already holds the record for the most ODI centuries by a New Zealand batsman – 20.
