Powerco has advised a power pole will be replaced in the Tararua District between 9:30am and 4pm, which could affect power to 257 properties on Seaview Rd in Herbertville.
Site closure
The Department of Conservation has advised that the Waiohine abseil site in Tararua Forest Park is closed for maintenance today and tomorrow.
Men’s Health
Week event
A Men’s Health Week event called Wise Men’s Day is being held today 8:30am to 1:00pm at Henley Men’s Shed, Henley Lake, Masterton. This is a free event, and men of all ages are welcome. Two men’s health experts will give presentations – John Kennedy on stem cells and Willie Teo on men’s health in general. There will also be activities, and morning tea and lunch will be provided

Police callouts
Police responded to a report of a single vehicle crash on Park Rd in Carterton’s Parkvale at 11:45am yesterday. No injuries were reported, and the road was not blocked. Police also responded to a report of an abandoned vehicle on Akura Rd in Masterton at 9am yesterday; the vehicle was towed and police are making enquiries into the matter.
Grants open
Carterton District Council’s Local Community Grants Fund [LCGF] and the Wairarapa Wide Regional Grants Fund [WWRGF] are now open for applications until July 31. The LCGF is to support Carterton community groups and organisations whose activities benefit the community in the district. The WWRGF supports community groups and organisations whose activities benefit the wider community in the region, so applicants for this fund must give evidence that support has been requested from at least one other council in Wairarapa.
