Mt Bruce Hall will be hosting its first-ever market tomorrow and the local community is “very excited” to see how it goes. The hall is entirely community-owned, which a source of pride for locals.
On the day, there will be 25 stalls offering coffee, food, crafts, plants, trees, eggs, honey, and much more.

Marty market
Tomorrow and Sunday there’s another market being held in Martinborough. The organisers invite people to “embark on a journey of discovery where local artisans and unique treasures await you at every turn”.

French Film Fest
Another activity to reel you in this weekend is the French Film Festival, which will feature a range of films for your viewing pleasure. There will be many offerings, from ‘The President’s Wife’ to ‘Neneh Superstar’ and ‘Iris and the Men’.

High tea
This Sunday offers the King’s Birthday-appropriate opportunity to stick out your pinky finger as you tuck into the high tea at Wharekauhau Country Estate. The event organisers promise the chance to indulge in an opulent afternoon of refined elegance and culinary delights, one that’s open to both guests and day visitors.

Music to your ears
Wairarapa is gearing up to welcome a quintet of players from the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra to perform ‘Last Leaf in Martinborough on Sunday. The quintet will perform the contemporary classical album that was curated by the Danish String Quartet in full. Organisers say that this musical performance will “transport you to Scandinavia with beautiful renditions of a variety of folk songs, all exquisitely set for a string quintet”.
The 50-minute performance includes short tunes that are variously described as “mysterious, ethereal, and folky”, while being “drenched in a stunning Nordic sound world”. With their appetites then whetted, guests will then enjoy a three-course culinary feast created by The Runholder’s head chef, Tim Smith.
