Doggone shame

At this week’s Greytown Community Board meeting, board member Jo Woodcock brought up the issue of dog poo bag dispensers in the township. Woodcock said a member of the community had told her the dispensers have not been supplied for two years. Board members resolved to find out who or what was responsible for topping up the dispensers and arrange for them to be stocked again.

Police reports

One person has been arrested, and charges are being considered after an assault at a property on High St, Solway. Police received reports of the assault at 9.15pm on Wednesday. A police spokesperson confirmed that injuries were reported but could not confirm the extent. Police responded to reports of a minor assault on Oban Pl in Masterton at 9pm Wednesday. Police have not substantiated this report. An ambulance was declined by the informant.

Monopoly play

A reminder that Business Wairarapa is still seeking expressions of interest from local businesses that want to be included in the Wairarapa Monopoly edition that is currently being workshopped. There are several different ways businesses that sponsor the project will be included in the final design, including property squares, Chance and Community Chest cards, and branded money. Any businesses interested are encouraged to secure a spot through Business Wairarapa’s website [wairarapachamber.co.nz].

Resilience invite

Wellington Region Emergency Management Office [WREMO] is inviting Wairarapa residents to Masterton Resilience Week, which is being held in the town from March 4 to 8 and involves a number of community resilience and hazard workshops. There will be nine events, ranging from flood awareness in Wairarapa to household and community emergency planning and emergency response practices. Covid updates

The Ministry of Health has advised that soon updates about covid-19 will no longer be posted on the Unite Against COVID-19 social media channels. From February 26, Covid-19 advice and information will be at info.health.nz/covid-19.
