Another vehicle has crashed into the wire median barrier on State Highway 2 [SH2] near Clareville yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to reports of a car colliding with the barrier on SH2 at 4pm yesterday.
A police spokesperson confirmed that there were no serious injuries. However, Wellington Free Ambulance [WFA] responded to the call, and paramedics provided medical assistance to the driver.
NZTA Waka Kotahi were advised of the crash and damage to the barrier by police shortly after 4pm.
SH2 was not closed for the incident, and traffic remained free-flowing at a reduced speed.
Police set up traffic management to alert motorists of the crash as they attended to and secured the scene.
A Fire and Emergency [Fenz] crew from Carterton were also called to the incident.
This crash comes after a single vehicle crashed into the wire median barrier on Saturday just after midday on SH2 near Waingawa.
Regional infrastructure delivery manager for NZTA Jetesh Bhula said the median barrier crash on Saturday “further reinforces the barrier’s importance as a safety feature and its crucial role in reducing the risk of head-on crashes”.
Both Fenz and the Police also attended the incident on Saturday.
I think all the cones you put on the road have confused the drivers 🤔. Try putting cones beside the scissor wire 🤔. Maybe widen the road 🤔.
