Firearm
infringement
Police responded to a callout in the early hours of yesterday after a group of people were allegedly discharging a firearm at about 12.45am. The callout to an address on Masters Cres in Masterton resulted in police speaking to those involved and the seizure of an air rifle. No injuries were reported in relation to the incident. A police spokesperson confirmed that enquiries are ongoing. No charges have been laid.
Outdoor pools
The outdoor pools at the Trust House Recreation Centre are open for business. The lido and speed slide are open from 12pm to 6.30pm, the log runner from 11.30am to 3.30pm, and there are plenty of slots for bombing sessions indoors while the dive pool well remains closed.
Swim safety
The warm and dry weather will see people flocking to beaches and waterways in droves and police are reminding people of basic water and swimming safety. Always actively supervise young ones around water because things can change quickly; rivers are unpredictable and can contain hidden dangers; check for hidden objects in swimming holes [such as logs] and look before you leap, water can change in depth each summer, and currents can move objects. Make sure you swim between the flags.
Sunshine days
MetService expects it to be fine today, with cloud clearing in the early morning and northeasterlies developing. The current UV level is classed as level seven – appropriate sun protection is required.
High St disorder
Police were called to High St in Carterton after receiving reports of two persons who are known to each other fighting. No injuries were reported, and police spoke to those involved.
