What’s being touted as Wairarapa’s real estate “deal of the century” is going under the hammer next week.
Just over half an acre of industrial land is being offered for sale at auction next week with a reserve of just $1 [yes, you read that correctly: one dollar].
The already titled 2094m2 of land is located at the Poplars Business Park on Masterton’s Ngaumutawa Road, which is “truly turning into a great industrial hub”, according to Tremains’ Bevan Saywell, who is handling the sale.
Businesses that have already set up operations at the park include Cafe Sugar, Festival Hire, Hebe, L.W & Co, Placemakers, Thistle Building Company, and Workshop Designs.
“The owners bought the land a year or so ago and, because they’ve got another section at the site that fulfils their needs, this section is now surplus to requirements, so they’ve decided to see what value the market puts on it,” Saywell said.
“Opportunities like this hardly ever come along, and this has the potential to be an amazing buy for an investor, someone who wants to start their own business, or someone who already has a business and is keen to relocate in order to become their own landlord.”
The auction is taking place at Poplars Business Park’s Sugar Cafe at 5 Thistle Avenue on Wednesday, November 29 at 3pm.
Under the District Plan, the land is zoned as ‘industrial’, with some retail activity also allowable, although a business that has the primary function of providing a service to the public may not meet the criteria. As such, potential purchasers who wish to use the land for some form of retailing are strongly advised to contact Masterton District Council for further information about what uses are appropriate for the area.
