Council closures
at Christmas
Masterton District Council [MDC] is advising that its regulatory departments will be closed from midday Friday, December 22 and will re-open in the new year on Monday, January 8. Anybody seeking resource or building consents should have their applications lodged prior to November 23 to have the best chance of them being granted and issued before the Christmas holidays, a spokesperson for MDC said.
The last day to apply for a non-urgent LIM report will be December 8, or December 15 if the LIM report is urgent. The last building inspection timeslot for 2023 is on December 21; building inspections can be booked again in the new year from January 8.
Police wrap-up
Police received reports of shoplifting on Chapel St at about 2.20pm on Friday afternoon, and police are taking measures to locate the alleged offender. Disorder at a business premises on Fitzherbert St, Featherston prompted a police response shortly before 8pm on Thursday. No injuries or damage was reported from the incident. Emergency services responded to a call on Wednesday afternoon at about 3.30pm soon after a car had collided with a power pole. Fire crews secured the area and contractors later restored the powerline.

Masterton District Council [MDC] is reviewing its ‘Revenue and Financing Policy’, and consultation on the review closes today at 4pm.
The policy outlines how the council funds the services it provides and how the ratepayer share is divided; the consultation document contains information on how costs are currently shared and the proposed changes, it can be found by going to the MDC website [mstn.govt.nz] and searching ‘Consultations’.
