Water outages
Carterton District Council [CDC] said there are two planned interruptions on the water supply to all properties on Wyndham St so they can connect new pipework to the existing water network. The outages are scheduled today from 10am-12pm and Thursday from 10am-3pm. CDC said the water will be back on as soon as possible but recommends residents fill up some containers with water before the outage starts. Residents should also avoid running dishwashers, washing machines, and any other appliances that use water. Hot water cylinders should also not be used because the cylinder may be damaged if the water level gets too low. Once water is turned back on, residents are urged to run their taps for a few minutes to clear any air bubbles from the pipes. Air can cause the water to turn a milky colour, but this will not affect the taste and should clear quickly, CDC said.
